As Chairwoman of the Board of the Bearings Specialist Association (BSA), Linda Miller (VP at Bearings & Drives, Inc.), presented a
check for $25,540 from BSA to South Carolina’s Operation: Military
Kids (OMK). The presentation to Dr. Pam Ardern, Military Liaison
for SC and directly responsible for SC Operation: Military Kids, was
made July 13th in Greenville, SC.

Saluda Executive Director,
BSA held its 2013 Annual Convention in South Carolina and se-
lected OMK as a local organization for BSA and its member compa-
nies to support. BSA donated the money usually spent on center-
pieces for the Annual Dinner and sold mulligans for the Annual
Golf Tournament expecting to raise about $3,000. The association
also suggested that member companies match BSA’s contribution
or donate whatever amount was appropriate. Their donations
increased the total amount to $25,540.
In addition to the financial contribution, BSA convention attendees also stuffed Hero Packs with goodies provided by the attendees. The HERO pack is awarded about 60 days after a loved one is
deployed, along with a letter of thanks.
The project got an enthusiastic response from 2013 Convention
attendees. As one attendee commented on the event evaluation,
“[We] Very much like a community activity as part of the convention. Should consider a volunteer activity in the future.” Another
added, “I applaud everyone involved. This is a great charity and
having that as an underlying theme of the convention really put
things into perspective when talking about business.”
BSA is an international service and educational organization of
distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted, anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products. For more information on
