This group was more likely to have received a raise in the past
year, compared to the management tier above them. One-third
received no type of increase, while the remaining two-thirds saw

this, the C-level group often exhibits more loyalty and is more willing to take a financial hit for the good of the company. Interestingly, last’s year’s results to the fair compensation question were
also exactly the same, with just over 36 percent saying they don’t
feel they are getting paid commensurate with their experience
and level of responsibility. The reasons for the discontent are varied. Said one, “Given the scope of my responsibility and customer
relationships, I am worth far more to a competitor than I currently
get compensated for.” According to another: “The magnitude of
work and the value generation for the company are gravely disproportionate.” Others cite cuts they took during the worst of the
recession where their pay level was never reinstated.
