Through the efforts of the late Milton B. Schott Jr., the
PTDA Foundation has received the first installment of a
three-year pledge of $210,000 from the Harold C. Schott
Foundation. This $70,000 gift is designated to support the
Industrial Careers Pathway program. This funding will assist
ICP in its mission of building awareness of industrial distribution as an incredibly rewarding career choice.
PTDA Foundation President Barbara Ross, director, rotary seals,
Garlock Sealing Technologies, notes, “This contribution will help
ICP measure the awareness of industrial distribution and develop
exciting new strategies to engage our target market of Millenni-
als. This type of broad-based market research is something we’ve
always dreamed of tackling, and now Milt’s passion for the indus-
try will make it possible and be part of his lasting legacy.”
Kenneth Miko, 2014 PTDA President and director, strategic
accounts at BDI, a long-time friend of Milt says, “Milt is smiling
down on us with a grin as wide as the Mississippi River, knowing
that ICP can now afford to implement the strategies and tactics
needed to make sure we are sending the right message, using the
right media, to the right audience. This is a major step in letting
the younger generation know about the incredibly rewarding ca-
reers in industrial distribution, the field Milt so loved.”
ICP expects this funding, combined with the ongoing
pledges made by members of ICP Alliance Partners, will
accelerate the pace at which we can move forward.
New ICP initiatives which will now be developed
include:
• Web-based training for the ICP Ambassador Corps, to en-
able them to spread the word about distribution at the local
level.
• Expanded involvement with national students’ groups in-
volved in the trades.
• New tactics to create awareness of industrial distribution.
• Resources to assist employers in establishing internships.
If you have any questions or would like to offer ideas on how
to spread the word among the Millennial generation about the
incredibly rewarding careers in industrial distribution, contact ICP
