of raise—up 12 points.
The mid-level group is less satisfied with their overall
compensation than the executives. Fifty-eight percent say
they feel fairly compensated—up two points year-over-year.
Sixty percent of respondents don’t feel they have adequate
job growth opportunities within their company or are unsure
of growth opportunities at their company.
Given that nearly 42 percent of the mid-level respondents
feel unfairly compensated, it was no surprise that most of
their comments were negative. For the most part, yearly
raises and compensation do not seem to increase with
responsibility, according to respondents. Here are some of

• “All the salary information that I can find on my position
says I should be making $20K or more per year.”
• “No pay increase, but increased responsibility.”
• “Workload increased fivefold, but no increase in
compensation for 4 1/2 years.”
• “Because I have been at the same employer so long they
tend to take me for granted and have compensated
others greater with much less tenure and experience.”
